Drain Revamp: a suggestion

Drains. The reason I chose Death School before any other. The ability that allows to heal for the half of damage dealt. Drains are awesome, but have some struggles: in a school with already low base damage, drains got an even lower damage because of the healing effect; and with the introduction of sun spells, drains get only 2/3 of the damage enchant. I saw so many ideas about this aspect of drains, most of them based on increasing the drain aspect. But this one goes in the other way. My suggestion is to lower the drain effect in favor of damage buff: instead of heal for half of damage, 50%, do it for only a third part, I mean, 33%.

My ideas for changes are as follows:

Ghoul (2 pips)

Current effect: 160 drain damage, swap half back (80).

Suggested effect: 195 drain damage, swap a third part back (65).

 

Vampire (4 pips)

Current effect: 350 drain damage, swap half back (175).

Suggested effect: 405 drain damage, swap a third part back (135).

 

Wraith (6 pips)

Current effect: 500 drain damage, swap half back (250).

Suggested effect: 615 drain damage, swap a third part back (205).

 

Scarecrow (7 pips)

Current effect: 400 drain damage AoE, swap half back (200).

Suggested effect: 510 drain damage AoE, swap a third part back (170).

 

Lord of Night (5 pips)

Current effect: 440 drain damage, swap half back (220), plus infection ward.

Suggested effect: 555 drain damage, swap a third part back (185), plus infection ward.

 

Dr. Von’s Monster (9 pips)

Current effect: 820 drain damage, swap half back (410), plus infection charm.

Suggested effect: 915 drain damage, swap a third part back (310), plus infection charm.

 

Call of Khrulhu (5 pips, 1 shadow pip)

Current effect: 830 drain damage AoE, swap half back (415).

Suggested effect: 960 drain damage AoE, swap a third part back (320).

 

With this type of drains, the sun enchants would buff the spell a bit more: for 3/4 of the value enchant. An epic would increase drains with 225, as an example.

  1. Hmmmm..Interesting idea… The point of drains is getting health back, so it seems weird to decrease that portion. Half feels like nothing already sometimes! Getting more damage sounds nice though… I don’t know!
