Mirage Main Quest Line Guide

Mirage Main Quest Line Guide

This guide is meant as a tool to follow your progress while questing in Mirage as well as a warning for when a cheating boss is coming soon. For this guide, I’m only listing the main quest line quests, aka storyline quests, which means the ones you have to do in order to get to the next area. Side quests are not mentioned.

Part 1: Wizard City to Dragonspyre

Part 2: Celestia to Avalon

Part 3: Azteca to Polaris

I list the quests you have to do in a certain area. The areas are listed in the order you should do them in (unless otherwise specified). The area is not always one hundred percent correct, as certain quests can require you to run back and forward between areas to talk to people. To simplify matters, I have not listed this kind of running; the quest will say “talk” but not where the NPC is located. Also, if there is only one quest in an area, I will not mention the area seperately. Between brackets are the different parts of the quest, as a quest will often require you to do multiple things.

I have divided the quests in the Spiral into the following groups:

  • Talk: Quests that require an interaction with an NPC.
  • Mob: Quests that require the defeat of regular monsters.
  • D&C: Quests that require the collection of something from certain monsters (Defeat and Collect).
  • Boss: Quests that require the defeat of a boss. Elite monsters are not counted as bosses.
  • Minor Cheat: Quests that require defeating a boss that cheats a little (these cheats can generally be ignored).
  • Cheat: Quests that require the defeat of a cheating boss (these cheats will hinder normal gameplay somewhat).
  • Major Cheat: Quests the require the defeat of a cheating boss (these cheats will hinder normal gameplay significantly).
  • Instance: Quests that require the completion of a place behind a sigil with at least 2 battles.
  • Puzzle: Quests that require the solution to a puzzle.
  • Interact: Quests that require interaction with a certain object.
  • Collect: Quests that require interaction with multiple items of a kind.
  • Explore: Quests that just require you to run towards a certain area, NPC or item.
  • Solo: Quests you need to do alone.

Note that some of the quests might be labeled “defeat and collect” in game, but actually appear as mob battles in my guide. This is because many of the D&C quests in Mirage actually give you the item required on the first try. Only fights where I actually had to fight the same mob twice to get the item are labeled as D&C. The rest are labeled as mob fights. Maybe I just got lucky in some cases, so don’t hesitate to correct me in the comments if a mob quest took you multiple fights to complete!

World Info

Mirage has a total of 113 quests. Of those quests, there are 52 regular mob fights, and only 9 Defeat and Collect quests (I think, correct me if I’m counting wrong XD)! There is a total of 60 boss fights. Of these bosses, 21 are cheaters of some kind, though not all of them are equally severe. There are 4 quests you have to do solo: two in the very beginning of Mirage and two somewhere past the half-way point.

Mirage went back to the tradition of doing areas in a certain order, and finishing one before going on to the next. This makes it different from for example Khrysalis, where it was hard to see your progress because you kept having to go back to old areas. I’ve always prefered worlds to be divided into clear areas to finish before moving on to the next one.

Mirage is longer than Polaris, but shorter than Azteca. I’d say it’s almost the perfect length for a world! I was a little disappointed when I came to the end, because I had mentally prepared myself for a longer world, but I do appreciate that it didn’t drag on too long.

My favorite quest is the one where you chase someone on a flying carpet (forgive my memory; I can’t remember who we were chasing). I did like many of the other quests and bosses as well though. For me, this was as close to the perfect world as you can get. Mirage had definitely deserved a place in my top 3 worlds, along with Avalon and Polaris.

Misthead, I can’t begin to tell you how useful this has been for me so far. Always wonderful to know what to expect.

    Thank you for the guide!

  • Brand Ghostspear

Excellent article. With this, it will help me find out what I need to prepare for.

  • The Balance Wizard Soloer

U guys should do a solo guide of this world it would be nice lol

    • Mora Misthead

Would be a pretty loooooong guide XD

  • Yoan Dimov

I don’t think the dumoozid or pale djinni quest should be in the Alkali Barrows section when you enter the area after the quest. Also Shouldn’t the Zruvan Grotto be its own section since it’s important, has a map, and also is about as big as the Den of thieves which has its own section? I would like to point out that in the Rubal Waste section it says “tripple cheat”. I believe it’s spelled triple cheat with one “p” if you’re referring to something related with three.

    • Mora Misthead

Zruvan Grotto confused me when I read Cody’s guide, in which it is its own section… I expected it to be a full area with lots of quests. I was disappointed when it was just one quest with multiple battles. So, in this guide, I’m thinking of just keeping it the way it is now. Den of Thieves does have 4 quests, with two instances. Barely counts as an area either though, true. Thank you for the feedback though, I’ll think about it some more!

Fixed my trippppple and moved the pale djinni, thanks for catching those! 🙂

      • Yoan Dimov

Alright, thanks for helping me understand. It’s true it’s just an instance so I can see your reasoning and how it’s kinda confusing. I do think this guide will nonetheless be helpful to me and others. I will now delete my previous comment since it’s resolved.

  • Liam

Do you know which quests are needed to unlock the level 118 spell quest?

    • Yoan Dimov

I’m pretty sure it’s Trial of the Understudy given and completed from Ione Virga the storm scholar. Basically you will fight a void to become the next rank which is understudy. After you turn in this quest you’ll get spell quest notification, badge, and the Arcanum Apartment. (Also the quest is in the guide above.) I hope that was helpful

  • Juffa toot

hey, there’s a kill and collect before the instance in “Eerkala’s Secret”

thanks for the awesome guide <3

    • Mora Misthead

Oh, I actually HAD that fight in the guide when I wrote it, but removed it before publishing because usually instance quests don’t have any battles outside of the instance O_o Thank you for commenting! 🙂

      • Fred Mythslinger

While on the topic of Eerkala’s Secret, the way it’s written implies there are 2 mob fights. There aren’t: It’s the D&C outside, and 4 bosses inside the dungeon. Unless I have a serious case of memory loss.

        • Mora Misthead

Oh! I think what happened is that I moved the mob battle into the instance sequence. Which brings up the question: was it really a D&C or did you collect on the first try? I’m the one with memory loss usually, prolly not you 🙂

          • Fred Mythslinger

I’m pretty sure I got it on the first try.

      • Juffa toot

Oh interesting. Great ending to the world, and I can’t wait for the next 🙂

  • Zapffe

Istanboa Was Catstantinople is (explore+mob+mob+boss+talk) not (explore + mob + mob + talk) as stated, because you have to fight Emperor Paleolo (a Rank 15 boss).

    • Mora Misthead

      Added! Thank you 🙂

  • Mitchell

Prickly Predicament in Caravan is actually a defeat & collect quest I believe.

    • Mora Misthead

Are you sure? Many of these are LABELED in game as D&C quests, but you collect on the first time. I name those quests just mob quests.

      • Mitchell

I know, a friend of mine said he didn’t collect when we fought the same mobs though. There is a possibility he was lying though so…

        • Mora Misthead

Why would he lie about that lol 🙂 I’m just making sure! I will change it.

  • Mitchell

Quiet Bungalow is indeed a mob+boss fight, I’m assuming you had the question mark after the quest to confirm it? (in Aggrobah)

    • Mora Misthead

I did! Thanks for confirming XD

  • Scot IronBlade

Snakes in palace is somewhat a dungeon, where you fight a minion, then a boss, then a boss named fury. The first boss is myth and the second is death and both have a fire minion. On the questline above, it says it is just a talking quest. Its in aggrobah.

    • Mora Misthead

Actually the instance during that quest actually has its own name: “Kasra Palace” (which is listed separately). You talk to someone for “Snakes in a Palace”, then enter the instance where you complete the quest “Kasra Palace” which requires you fighting a mob and two bosses. After that, you complete the quest “Snakes in a Palace by doing more talking.

  • Angel Ash

    What does instance mean?

    • Mora Misthead

An instance is a place with a sigil to enter that has at least two battles behind it

      • coolguy01

Hey mora I was wondering if you had some high level myth or any friends who do that could do crazy solos like alh or gamersofficial did. Myth usually comes third in offensive capabilities and has a decent defense. It seems like an average school but it would cool to see someone give myth a title.

  • Hungry Pretzel

in the header you said there were 3 d&c but in the actual guide there is 4 Eerkala’s Secret The Fortee Thieves Devinn the Drifter and Ghulture Bones

    • Mora Misthead

Counting is difficult! You are totally right 🙂

      • Hungry Pretzel

in the quest Prickly Predicament you labeled it as a d&c but it is colored green, i know it is extremely minor but still it would make the guide look more formal. this also means that there is actually 5 D&C if you ctrl+f D&C you will see

      • Hungry Pretzel

          Haha XD Thanks!

  • fgyt0

    A great guide!

  • Mitchell

By the way, the person who we chase on the magical carpet is Ali Baboon, in the quest “Money Buisness” (under Yahkal Mountain)

  • coolguy01

I dont remember which article I requested this for but I want to give a monumental thanks to whoever was able to fix the training point calculator to be more concurrent like thank you so much it was such a great help I can actually use it very effectively so thank you so much for the patch.

    • coolguy01

Btw just to be I suppose community friendly you guys should try to repost it to Duelist showing its updated because I just checked it on my own without knowing. I’m sure a lot of other people would appreciate the major help.

    • ivanna

I shall pass on your thanks since I know the person who did the calculator. In fact, I was the one who alerted him to the original post stating the calculator needed updating. Very glad you appreciate the patch.

    • Termagant

You’re welcome, Coolguy01 (and thanks, Ivanna, for keeping me posted)

You mean like post an article about the update? I think that’s in the works. Scheduling all the posts on this site is a big job, all handled by Nora Misthead, for which we are all grateful!

  • Hungry Pretzel

i would consider Xerxes from the quest Xerxes’ wrath as a normal cheat as he doesn’t heal back his health so all you need to do is hit him with single hits until he dies which is very easy’ wouldn’t consider him a minor cheat tho and not a major cheat either

  • Hungry Pretzel

i would consider Xerxes from the quest Xerxes’ wrath as a normal cheat as he doesn’t heal back his health so all you need to do is hit him with single hits until he dies which is very easy wouldn’t consider him a minor cheat tho and not a major cheat either

  • Hungry Pretzel

i would consider Xerxes from the quest Xerxes’ wrath as a normal cheat as you can flee after one turn in the fight and when you come back he wont have any minions and my life killed quickly with just to traps and a Caterpillar definitely not a minor cheat but also not a major one

    • Mora Misthead

Well, I died 6 times in that battle, so I’m keeping it this way lol XD But thanks for the tip of fleeing!

      • Cody RavenTamer

Overlord Xerxes drains all his minions on round 1 to gain full health though. Might explain why they aren’t present when you flee and return.

  • Hungry Pretzel

the quest Thuggie’s stash is a d&c took me 2 tries for it

    • Mora Misthead

      Thanks! 🙂

  • Hungry Pretzel

the quest Istanboa Was Catstantinople is an instance

    • Mora Misthead

I changed it, thank you 🙂

  • Wolf FireBreath

Kobra Kommander in the Aridian Chronoshard instance quest is a minor cheating boss he always uses Dark Fiend at 2 shadow pips as well as casting a wild bolt every five turns…

Very Minor cheat but a cheat nonetheless
Awesome guide, this is soooo helpful to track my progress through Mirage thanks Misthead!!

    • Mora Misthead

Thank you! I changed the quest description. Glad you find it useful 🙂

  • Hannah C

Awesome guide, it really helped a lot! Only thing I wanted to say was that the last 6 quests aren’t in the Yakhal Mountain. 12-15 are in Aggrobah and 16 & 17 happen in the Thieves Den.

    • Wolf Firehunter

actually 16 and 17 aren’t in the Thieves Den but help you to gain access to it

      • Hannah C

        Oh, yeah true.

  • Lex

Rebels with a cause quest is a D&C in Yakhal Mountain

  • Hungry Pretzel

The barons last stand the 2nd fight is a elite mob not a boss

    • Mora Misthead

Thank you! Finally go around to editing.

  • Hungry Pretzel

the quest the rebel rouser the first boss is an elite mob

  • Hungry Pretzel

Breaking the Hardline the 2nd fight is a mob

  • Hungry Pretzel

i would consider bort shadowmane (the 2nd boss in the sands of time) to be a minor cheat as all he does is take a pip if you come in late (easilly avoidable) and put on an absorb which doesnt seem like cheats at all, at least hard cheats espically because he lets you feint him making him 10 times easier

    • Mora Misthead

      Yes, I agree. Thank you!

  • Afezeria

    Thanks for the guide!

I just did the mob battle in “The Ice Kennels” in Yakhal Mountain and did not collect the information; thus, I believe it is a D&C and not a mob battle.

    • Mora Misthead

      Thank you!

The rolling thunder quest is supposed to be a D&C

  • Narwals Dax

Boss Goofang in breaking the hardline is a cheater, if you come in late it steals pips

  • Cass HexBlade

Breaking the Hardline has a minor cheat.

  • Enemy at the Gate (cheat + talk) in Yahkal Mountain
Shouldn’t that be in pink and not red? It’s a boss fight.

    • misthead

Cheaters are red, regular bosses pink 🙂

  • PlasmaFighter_

    Love the guide!
There are a few mistakes though 😛
One that I noticed is in Aggrobah on the instance quest Kasra Palace, you put it is a mob, boss, boss, but it is actually mob, mob, boss. The second mob is an elite mob with about 10,000 health. Just pointing that out 🙂

  • PlasmaFighter_

As I am questing through Mirage I am realizing that you have mixed up a few mobs. There are sine elites that have the health of a boss and you marked them as bosses. Just pointing that out too 🙂

  • Furious

Can you please consider numbering them from 1-whatever until the end instead of restarting from 1 after every new area. Because at the very beginning you said how many quests there were and to know what number you’re at will really help. Hopefully that made sense, Thanks!

    • Mora Misthead

Hmmm, valid suggestion. I’ll think about it 🙂

  • 19

    24. a talking head should be explore x3 + talk. there is no mob quest. and the quest after it should be hassan’s price (d&c), then most valued treasure.

    • Mora Misthead

Huh, I missed two quests completely? How did that happen?! Thank you for the information 🙂

  • Sithlight

In the quest kasra palace the first boss is actually an elite mob with 9k health

    • Mora Misthead

      Thank you!

  • Sithlight

In the 82nd quest breaking the hardline the cheat boss is pink

  • Nathan Li

Why is the boss in the quest ‘Mother Ghulture’ labeled as a “major” cheat? What makes it more major than other cheating bosses? I looked up the boss and there are definitely other bosses out there with more severe and difficult cheats.

    • Mora Misthead

Doesn’t she do the GS thing anymore? That felt major when I walked into it unprepared xD I guess if you know about about, it’s not that major.

  • Manderking

ok so I found one mistake in the third quest (the sand sea) the first battle is a defeat and collect.

  • James Green

    34. The Thuggies’ Stash should go (explore + D&C + explore + mob + interact (or collect) + talk)

  • link.

You are missing the quest called house under seige

    • Mora Misthead

Quest number 46 is called “House under Siege”
